Gidday Guys, finally got to blogging my recent trip in Uganda on the White Nile. Got in some sweet paddling and managed to do it with a ton of kiwi's which was great. I linked in with a few of the other Bliss-Stick boys... Josh Neilson and Mike Dawson for some sweet stuff and a bit of ruckus.

The Smoothy was fantastic on the Nile. Fast (almost too fast for me some times), really responsive and great to paddle in the big water. I was much easier to handle than I thought a play boat would be in such big water. Big Up's to the team for that boat.

Gidday Charles, just got off the 2nd Descent of the East Waikaia, after hearing Keiths stories Jordy, Justin and I were eager to get in there to get a taste of what the sweet East Waikaia had to offer. Huge time of late Norm ! Charging along down here. Great descent this week of the East Waikaia. Dylan Thompson, Keith Reiley and myself all going well in the Mystics. We persevered for three days and paddled some of the most incredible whitewater. There is a future in this run for sure ..all good things Zak Shaw.

This event was epic! The courses that we were racing on were massive as, crazy big!!! Unfortuatly for me I missed my flight from Denver, (USA Security) and arrived a day late which meant minimal training on the course, and a hefty travel bill.. I went hard with Sam and Brad who arrived the same day from Munich, and bombed the river a few times blind before we realised how gnarl it was…  had some good performances coming away with 2nd overall, after I broke my paddle in the boatercross… haha. Jared was 4th and Sam 5th with Sam Sutton and Jared Meehan in the World Championship Event. We had great runs in the steep creek event, and also in the slalom and became the 2009 world champions!!!!    Here are a few extra pics.    or check out Mikes Blog

I had a sweet event and managed to come 2nd unfortunatly by 11 hundreth of a second. But I was able to set the Race record time in my second run. Unfortunatly for me the race counted both times. Well, the river levels are finally dropping on the Ottawa and the play spots are really starting to come out…Garb should be good to go in a couple days…yee haa!!
Just had the Canada Cup Freestyle comp on the weekend and managed to take first spot in the pro-women and wound up third woman in the North American Champs series. I've been paddling the 'Specialist' a lot this season and have been loving it!  Was perfect for the steep wave we competed on and felt great. Check out  MY WEBSITE

 Voss Extreme week A good time was had by all at the downriver race on the Brandseth River. Young stud Mike Dawson dominated in the men’s race finishing his two descents of the racecourse four and five seconds faster than his nearest rival. Through 2007 & 2008 Bliss-Stick paddler Anthony Yap made two trips to North Americas great Grand Canyon and Colorado river to help be apart of the new 3D IMAX film, Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk. Starring Robert F. Kennedy Jr & anthropologist Wade Davis the film is directed at water conservation, something as kayakers we should all be very aware of.
 
The film was just premiered in New York March 12th and has since been opening in IMAX theaters across the world with amazing reviews.

hey mate absolutely loved the mini mystic! took it for a run on the Kaituna before getting into the action on tree trunk gorge! most amazing place ive been i recon!!! tell matty he has done a great job on shaping the new smaller design. there are difinately things i miss that were features on the big mystic but new things on the mini that make it a wicked boat!!! its goin to be a tough decision which one ill paddle more from now on but will take a few more paddles i think. i have just updated my blog on the week  that i was part of the film tour on aratiatia and tree trunk and we should have some sick new photos and a trailer to this movie early 2008! cheers to you guys for all your support this year! much appreciated!! have a good christmas break and ill catch you soon cheers Josh.

We have had a great sanding team on the job doing the final preperation work on the new Mini Mystic mold, (from front left) James, Rob, Mauricio, Sara and Cassie spent several days sanding happily, Im sure they had time to get to know each other a little better.

The Mini Mystic are now on the production line, and the first review in from Honza and a couple of the boys, is that the Mini Mystic is a winning size and a very fast kayak, its quite simular in size to our Huka model, but comes with alot more attitude. Pics and Specs to follow.

India wound up really well in the end. We would have liked more days in the boat but that's pretty hard when you're doing exploratory kayaking. Lots of walking, scouting and talking.

The Indian guy Shalabh that we meet up with and paddled with really wanted to score my boat because he was impressed with the way it paddled. Maybe next year aye. I did end up leaving a paddle and some other gear as there are a few young fullas keen to learn over there. HI Norm, I fly to Brisbane tomorrow, where I plan to save up for my next big kayaking adventure, I plan to be back at BC for may to october and then off to Nepal for a few months then back to NZ for Christmas. Its gonna be hard living in Oz with no white water but I will focus on my climbing which will in turn advance my creeking. Anyways I finished up with a bang, paddling the upper upper Upper Hokitika in a two day trip, we flew the highest so far way up mongo creek. Hi Norm,
I had the chance of trying out the Mystic this weekend. I can tell you that the boat is the best I have paddled to this day. Very fast and the volume feels just right. boofing was very easy and it holds a line better than my solo and my nomad. I felt very safe and comfortable during the 3 hour run. I liked the outfitting, very easy to adjust while on the river.
This run is in Arizona it's a nice low volume creek with some 20' waterfalls. I noticed how strong the seat is i can't wait to see my new Mac. I'll be getting a Scud pretty soon to add to my fleet. I'll be in Colorado this weekend running some creeks, playboating and spreading the love.

This is the sad remains of the boat a week later after being pulled out from the river. Luckily and mostly the paddler was safe and was able to escape the boat while pinned.

Dave Kwant (Kayak Legend!) and Jo Kearns run a film festival in Hokitika every January . The Festival is based around a theme of water.  It is an international film festival and January 2007 is the third year it has been running.

It runs over 4 days (4 - 7 January) and the first night is the BIG "kayak porn" night which sees around 200 paddlers converging upon the town of Hokitika to check it out!  They also visit to do some SERIOUS paddling too!

The first wave of demo boats is underway from the Bliss-stick factory in New Zealand to all the North Island Canoe and Kayak stores.

We are happy to be associated with Canoe and Kayak as they will carry a full demo fleet in each store for local paddlers to try and have access to.

Canoe and Kayak have nine stores in the North Island and have a very large paddler base with their own Yakity Yak Kayak Club, We will be doing our part with Canoe and Kayak to introduce the sport of whitewater kayaking to potential new comers.

An epic weekend had by all who made it to Dunedin for the Blissfest event, held in testing conditions at St Clair beach.

Paddlers from around the South Island braved the wintery polar blast that bought along some great surf conditions for the festival, The event was well received by all who made it and it has set a benchmark for South Island kayak events.

Saturday night turned up the heat for the festival with a inspiring film competition, lots of cold beer and a wicked live band, Sundays event was all go early in the morning with the surf rolling in some intimidating sets, with surf peaking right in time for the Mens final. This was a hard out combat between last years winner Ian Waterhouse and local favourite Dylan Thompson, Dylan edging in to win with a spectacular tube ride and some big air. Great victory at Lyon, France. Well done young fellow. Anthony Yapp, Bliss-Stick’s freestyle demon, took out the overall prize and glory, awesome to see. Of all European freestyle events, this is the one to shine.  This can only mean one thing… EJ didn’t win, which makes a nice change. Must be getting to old for it I recon!!!!!!!! 
One thing for sure, when it comes to commitment, dedication and obsession to Freestyle, Yappa can stand toe to toe with anyone and was justly rewarded this weekend.

Yappa’s been getting down to it and setting up his own section in our site. Looking pretty damn good too. He can do more than just throw big air moves after all…   That’s important as we don’t pay boaters to paddle our boats. It seems kind of wrong really because we want boaters to paddle them because they rock. If they can tell there story and help us on our quest to build the best kayaks… well that’s another story all together.
